Meet Richard Sperling

Richard F. Sperling began his career as a trial attorney, litigating business and real estate disputes. His work included acting as corporate counsel for real estate brokers, mortgage companies, and technology companies, and his firm quickly grew to an operation employing several attorneys and nearly 50 escrow officers and paralegals at six locations.

Richard’s practice grew to include family law. He became trained and certified as a mediator and as a collaborative law practitioner. As a law professor, he taught mediation, negotiation strategies, family law, business and real estate law, and civil and employee rights at the law school level, as well as at Antioch University – Santa Barbara and California State University – Northridge.

His practice concentrates in the areas of family law and mediation, as well as the intersection of family law and estate planning. Richard’s approach to family law is to call upon his experience as a mediator and negotiator to reach agreement while minimizing cost and conflict. These skills are also useful to resolve estate planning issues. In these areas, Richard’s approach and experience facilitate the resolution of conflict and client progress in achieving life’s transitions.

Richard is past Vice-President of the Southern California Coalition for Collaborative Law. He has been a member of Provisors – Westlake Village Chapter 6 since 2008. Richard meets with clients throughout Los Angeles and Ventura Counties. He can be reached at his Westlake Village office at 818.991.0345 or at Sperlinglaw@hotmail.com
